Summary Obtains or receives merchandise, totals bill, accepts payment, and makes change for customers in retail store by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise.
Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.
Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise.
Obtains merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customer.
Answers customer’s questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill.
Accepts payment and makes change.
Wraps or bags merchandise for customers.
Removes and records amount of cash in register at end of shift.
Calculates sales discount to determine price.
Keeps record of sales, prepares inventory of stock, and orders merchandise.
Helps to maintain the cleanliness of the store to include sweeping, dusting, mopping, washing dishes, cleaning meat and cheese cases, cleaning and/or defrosting bunkers and freezers, walk in cooler, countertops, and any other area required or requested by Management.

Education and/or Experience
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills =
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software (Use Computerized Cash Register).
