ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Daily: All packaging dept. personnel may be called upon to perform any of the following tasks:
Operate slicers including spiral slicer, bacon slicer, hand operated slicer, and band saw.*
Operate vacuum packaging machines (VC999 and Multivac).*
Prepare products for vacuum packaging (cutting, trimming, bagging).
Weigh/portion sliced product on slicer line.
Label and box finished vacuum packaged product.
Glaze product-operate glazing torch.
Perform mid-shift cleanup, clean packaging machines, keep storeroom orderly.
Stack boxed finished product on pallets and/or shelves.
Move smoke racks of product into department for packaging, remove empty racks.
Assist in training new employees.
Assemble boxes, tape and label.
Take inventory of dry storage supplies (monthly).
Attend safety and sanitation meetings.
Record information such as weight, temperature and date packaged.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
