Position Objective​

GENEX is seeking a Payroll & HR Generalist to support various Payroll and HR Department functions including administration of payroll tax, sales-based commission calculations, benefits and other tasks as assigned. The successful candidate will work with other Payroll and HR staff to provide a positive employee experience by delivering superior customer service practices.

Major Areas of Accountability

•Be the payroll tax expert for the Payroll department. Provide tax filing and tax preparation documents to meet state and federal filing deadlines.
•Prepare withholding tax and state unemployment tax documentation
•Assist in processing payroll for the various companies throughout GENEX.
•Maintain all current payroll database information including but not limited to new hires, terminations, transfers, department, position, worker’s compensation codes and compensation rates within the payroll and SAP database.
•Research and correct employee payroll related issues including commission adjustments, address changes, tax filings, etc.
•Provide reports and payroll queries to management as requested
•Assist the HR department with preparation and distribution of company benefit materials as necessary throughout the year
•Assist with new hires and newly eligible employees benefit enrollment
•Provide COBRA notices for loss of benefit eligibility due to end of employment or status changes
•HSA administration, including company wellness program


•Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Payroll, or other related fields
•3-5 years of prior experience in payroll tax and payroll
•Strong mathematical skills to calculate commissions
•Must have excellent computer skills; experience in SAP and/or JD Edwards is a plus
•Ability to multi-task and have exceptional problem solving skills
•Must enjoy researching and correcting issues to solve payroll related questions
•Is highly analytical and enjoys working with numbers
•Willingness to develop and grow both personally and professionally
