The workshop curriculum is based on strategies, tactics, & techniques drawn from Kempo-Jujutsu & Modern Arnis de Mano. Kempo-Jujutsu is a complete system which encompasses the various categories of empty-handed combatives to include strikes, throws, locks, submissions, etc. Modern Arnis de Mano is a complete impact/edged weapon system which encompasses the use and defenses against hand held impact and edged weapons.
These systems are taught together using the Seizan Ryu (“West Mountain School”) teaching methodology which has a teaching focus that develops four core areas: correct movement/mechanics, proper position/timing, stability-mobility dynamics, and exploiting tactical opportunity. Ultimately, this teaching method produces higher skills more quickly and more reliably than other teaching/training methods.
This workshop will cover the fundamentals that lead to highly applicable and adaptable combative skills including:
· Moving from Reaction to Action
· Managing Distance/Space
· Developing Dynamic Movement
· Maximizing Counter-Offensive Biomechanics
· Minimizing Opportunities for an Aggressor
· “Hardwiring” Combatives Skill Sets
· Use of and Defense Against Common Contact Weapons
Students are encouraged to wear athletic clothing, bring water, high energy snack, and a notebook.
