Take a right and you will be entering Amish farm country. At the fork in the road, stay to the right. You will travel on Slab City Road for about 2 miles. The first Amish home will be on the south (left) side of the road. It is a two-story brick home. Notice the large garden to supply food for the families. Please remember that the Amish do not like to be photographed; please respect their wishes. Also, unless invited, or it is an Amish business, do not enter their property without permission. When you get to the yield sign, you will head north (right) on Valley road. To your left is a large Amish farm and home, and just across the street is the Amish Schoolhouse (about .5 miles). The Amish still utilize the old-fashioned on-room school. There are currently two teachers at that school. Travel a little farther and stop at the Valley Harness Shop. When leaving the shop, continue north on Valley road through the intersection. Over the hill you will see Miller's Bulk Foods Store on the right. This is the first of two bulk foods stores run by the Amish in Bonduel. When leaving Millers go south (left) on Valley Road and continue to the intersection. At the stop sign take a right on Porter Road and follow it until you see the sign for Lark's Country Store (about .5 miles). Take a right on Hill Road and follow that around the corner where it turns into Lark Road and through the woods to Larks. When Leaving Larks, go west (left) and continue to the intersection. At the stop go south (left) on County Road T and watch for the Borntreger Amish farm on your left (about .5 miles). Continue on and turn to the east (left) on to Porter Road. Continue on Porter Road which will take you back into Bonduel. Once you cross the intersection of Porter Road and Valley Road, slow down and view several Amish farms along the way. At the end of Porter Road, you can go north (left) to head back to downtown Bonduel or you can go south (right) to get to Highway 29. To add hiking and wildlife viewing to your tour head south on Highway 47 for 8 miles to Highway 156 which will lead to the Village of Navarino. Follow this route throughout he village until reaching McDonald Road. Then turn right on Lindsten Road to the Navarino Nature Center. This center is an excellent place to view wildlife in a natural habitat.
